My Photos

In Napier, New Zealand, I bought a little guided tour in the local area. This range in view holds significance in the local mythology. An ancient chief of the Ngati Kahungunu, Chief Rongokako, desired marriage to a Heretaunga chief's daughter. She tasked him, being a giant, to eat his way through the hill. He choked on a huge bite and died here, and the hills are the remains of his giant body. Now it is called "Te Mata Peak".
